Everything's Going to Be Okay, I Think (Snowman and Stray Dog), 2021

Site specific installation consisiting of two vinyl window clings, as part of Art in Odd Places 2021.

This project uses the iconography of Thomas Kinkade, taking two specific elements from his paintings and re-making them as 3D renders, then printing the results as window clings. The stray dog meeting the snowman, to me, represents an “innocent” encounter in an American visual lexicon, where one’s hope for progress or self-actualization meets a symbol that both affirms and negates those desires. Choosing a location whose previous tenant went out of business during the COVID pandemic was purposeful, connecting the aspiration imbued in the relationship with the uncertainty of that aspiration to be realized.
